Fractional CFO | High-Growth, Investor-Backed SaaS Business | London / Remote
Harmonic are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a high-growth, investor-backed SaaS business in their search for an experienced Fractional Chief Financial Officer. Following a recent funding round, the company is entering a key stage of expansion, with strong commercial momentum and a clear roadmap towards future capital events.
This is a senior, strategic role working closely with the CEO and wider leadership team, supporting the business in scaling effectively, strengthening financial discipline, and preparing for future fundraising and potential exit.
The Role
Working directly with the CEO, you will take ownership of shaping the financial strategy and ensuring the business is set up to operate at a level expected by investors and board stakeholders. You will partner closely with the existing finance team, providing senior oversight while driving key initiatives across planning, reporting, and value creation.
This is a fractional engagement (1–2 days per week), focused on delivering high-impact output across financial planning, investor engagement, and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and refinement of the financial planning framework, including long-term modelling, scenario planning, and forecasting
- Translate business strategy into clear financial outcomes, including growth targets, margin improvement, and capital requirements
- Establish and enhance financial governance and reporting standards, ensuring alignment with investor expectations
- Produce and present high-quality board and investor reporting, providing clear visibility on performance and forward outlook
- Support upcoming fundraising processes, taking ownership of financial materials, modelling, and diligence preparation
- Act as a key point of contact for investors on financial matters, articulating performance, assumptions, and funding strategy
- Provide input on capital strategy, valuation considerations, and deal structuring
- Ensure the business is financially prepared for strategic transactions, including potential investment or exit scenarios
- Lead financial aspects of due diligence processes, working alongside external advisors
- Oversee key compliance areas, including statutory obligations and tax-related processes, leveraging external specialists where required
What We Need to See (Essential)
- Previous experience operating at CFO level within a VC-backed SaaS or technology business
- Experience involved in transactional processes, such as M&A or exit events
- Strong commercial acumen, with a clear understanding of growth metrics and performance drivers
- Comfortable presenting to and influencing boards, investors, and senior stakeholders
- Highly capable in financial modelling and scenario analysis
What Would Be Advantageous
- Experience within scaling, high-growth technology businesses
- Established network across the VC or growth equity ecosystem
- Familiarity with UK startup financial structures and reporting requirements
- Experience working alongside an in-house finance team as a fractional leader
Day Rate: £900–£1,200 per day
Commitment: 1–2 days per week
Location: London / Remote (with occasional in-person)
